Presented exclusively at the Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre, Far from a Still Life is the aptly named exhibition celebrating what would have been the 100th birthday of Margaret Olley, one of Australia’s foremost still life artists. The exhibition commemorates Olley’s remarkable life and achievements and gives visitors the opportunity to understand Olley the artist, the world traveller, the friend, the muse and the philanthropist. With a dynamic collection of work covering her extraordinary career, the exhibition includes one of her earliest paintings, a still life that Olley did at high school when she was just 15 years old, through to one of her last works that was painted in the final year of her life, aged 88 years.
